Local Loyalty

Always a mouth piece for promoting not only local farms, but also local businesses supporting local farms, I ran across an article in my local newspaper about The Smithy, an organic market in New Preston, CT. Every single food item in the market is locally produced. The Smithy supports eight area farms, plus over 50 area vendors producing items such as honey, maple syrup, cheese, eggs, pumpkin seeds, and more. The Smithy is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., from May to December. It's closed Tuesdays. With fall foliage time just around the corner a scenic Sunday drive to New Preston may just be in my future.
