Meat-eaters, have I got an enticing bite of news for you! M.EAT Organic Beef + Provisions is opening this June in Westport's new retail, residential, and dining hub, Bedford Square.
M.EAT specializes in providing the highest quality beef and lamb from Uruguay, Argentina, New Zealand, and Australia. Think of it as an old-school meat market with new school fundamentals, focused on healthful, flavorful, quality meats. The primary meat source for M.EAT is Uruguay and while I always prefer to source locally first, organic is a close second and I'm intrigued by the very stringent system they have in Uruguay.

At M.EAT they hand butcher all the cuts to order. The market will also have a burger bar where you can choose your own grind of meat types, fat content, and flavor profiles, as well as a variety of organic cheeses and produce to accompany that perfect burger. Provisions run the gamut from grilling and seasoning products to kitchen equipment and cooking aids. M.EAT will also carry domestic organic meat and chicken, as well as ingredients from CT’s local farmers and artisans.
M.EAT comes to Connecticut by way of Fair Trade International, Inc. and is a member of the Organic Trade Association as well as the Meat Importers Council of America (MICA).
I definitely plan to check them out when I am down in that neck of the woods.
